Infrastructure dvelopments - July 2016

On May 19, 2016 Professor Mike Forde (University of Edinburgh) organised the 3rd in a series of meetings held (i) to raise awareness of infrastructure research needs in Scotland and (ii) to create a pan-Scottish network of researchers that can have critical mass in the infrastructure area.  The 1 day meeting was held in Edinburgh and it was supported by the National Telford Institute; it complemented 2 earlier meetings organised by Professor Forde in the Telford Advanced Research Workshop series - see "Events" for details of all 3 meetings

NTI and Aquaculture Part 2 - April 2014

The Science & Research Working Group of the Scottish Government Ministerial Group for Sustainable Aquaculture has recently completed a document summarising, co-ordinating and prioritising strategic research requirements in support of the Scottish Marine Plan (http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2013/07/9185). Peter Davies (Director of NTI) is a member of the Working Group and input to the document was provided by a Task Force comprising NTI representatives Peter Davies (Chair), Jonathan Knappett and Andrew Brennan (both University of Dundee) and Vlad Nikora and Alistair Allen (both University of Aberdeen), with Mark James (MASTS), on the topic of "Technology & Engineering - development of technologies, materials and engineering design to underpin the development of the aquaculture industry".

NTI annd Oceanology International - April 2014

The 2014 Oceanology International conference in London (March 2014) included a highly-successful 1-day mini-conference on aquaculture (http://www.oceanologyinternational.com/en/Sessions/3911/Aquaculture) to reflect the growing importance of the industry in the marine environment.  This was the first time that aquaculture was represented at Oceanology International and the event was led by NTI and the Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) to promote collaboration between academia and industry in areas where there are opportunities for technology transfer.  The mini-conference was organised by Co-Chairs Peter Davies (NTI) and Neil Auchterlonie (Cefas), with Alex Adrian (Crown Estate), Jimmy Turnbull (University of Stirling Institute of Aquaculture), Mark James (MASTS) and Kenneth Black (SAMS).
